"What exactly does a life coach do?” is the question I am most often asked.
I respond is saying, "I listen. I uplift. I encourage and I put my whole being into helping my clients succeed."
The next most popular question I'm asked is, "How is coaching different from a psychiatrist?" To explain, psychiatrists and counselors tend to treat from medically based perspectives. There is often a label placing you as a “patient” and they usually focus more on the past to diagnose a problem or issue you are facing today. Individuals hire consultants or mentors as content experts, to give answers and advice. Consultants tell you exactly what steps to take to get where you want to go. As your life coach, I operate with the understanding that you are the expert in your life and your situation. I truly believe that you can develop effective solutions regardless of the circumstances. To help you get there, I use expertly designed proven to work tools, and ask thought provoking questions; so that you discover your answers via the path that aligns best with your values and perspective.
As a Certified Wellness Life Coach, I maintain a more positive outlook, concentrate on the future -when needed acknowledge the past-, and encourage personal development. Coaches are facilitators. Often times we do not allow ourselves time to think, process ideas or even acknowledge that we have unique ideas. We deem our goals unrealistic or not a priority and shelve them for a later date. As your coach, I will help you gain more clarity about your goals and help you design an effective plan of action to bring them to fruition. You will successfully take steps involving clear vision; guided by your personal intuition, perception, and values.
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the most recognized, worldwide credentialing organization for coaches. ICF answers "what is a life coach?" with this definition: "...an ongoing partnership that helps the client produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives."
Applying this to Health & Wellness Planning, with my clients, I co-design custom plans; drawing from their emotional, mental and physical state. I incorporate exercise regimens, dietary changes, and other adjustments suited to helping my clients reach their optimum state of well-being. We work together every step of the way until you are able to see your goals come to fruition. I hope that I have given you a pretty good idea as to what I do as a Health & Wellness Planner.
